Dyeing to ensure equality
Hi! My name is Kyra Slutzky. I am a 17-year-old high school student from Newport Beach, CA, and the founder of ChariDYE! A few months ago, my science teacher assigned us a self-directed final project at the end of my school year. I decided to tie-dye t-shirts with homemade plant dyes. When I presented my project over zoom to my class, the feedback, even from the teacher, was, "Can I get one?!".
So, I decided to start selling my plant based tie-dyed clothing on Instagram to support The Equal Justice Initiative, an organization committed to ending mass incarceration and racial inequality. 100% of the profits go to EJI. So far, I'm delighted to report that ChariDYE has raised $1,000.00, and we are just getting started. Click below to learn more about EJI.
I have now decided to expand my business. I am proud to announce that tie-dyed sweatshirts, t-shirts, and socks are now available. Each item is handmade with love, passion, and purpose.
Thank you, Kyra
